Rick Warren, America's Pastor?

Hugh Hewitt declared it so it must be so. Right? Hmmm ...

According to the Washington Times, "[Pastor Rick] Warren told CNN's Larry King on Monday that he 'never once even gave an endorsement' " to California's Proposition 8, which maintained the traditional definition of marriage and defeated the rule of judges on that issue (at least for now).

But wait a minute. Rev. America's Pastor, according to that Washington Times article, "the week before Proposition 8 went before state voters on Nov. 4" you said, 'Now let me say this really clearly: We support Proposition 8 ... and if you believe what the Bible says about marriage, you need to support Proposition 8. I never support a candidate, but on moral issues, I come out very clear.' "

That was then. This is now. "In his conversation with Mr. King, Mr. Warren said, 'All of a sudden out of it, [opponents] made me something that I really wasn't. And I actually — there were a number of things that were put out. I wrote to all my gay friends — the leaders that I knew — and actually apologized to them. That never got out.' "

So America's Pastor can say one thing then, and something completely different now.

And does Hugh Hewitt ever bring this up? Not that I can see in the transcript.

So why were two hours on Hewitt's show handed to Warren? I have a strong suspicion that Warren's flip-flop on same-sex marriage did not sit well with his center-right congregation in South Orange County, California. Did Warren and Hewitt discuss, before these interviews, how "America's Pastor" might ameliorate the PR damage his sudden switch on this issue might do to Saddleback Church's coffers? Who knows.

America's Pastor? I don't think so.

Islam, after all, has been no friend to homosexuals.

As Instapundit.com put it, "there are no statistics on the Muslim vote [why, do you think, that would be?], I would be flabbergasted if support for gay marriage mustered more than the single digits."

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Fascislamists following through with this threat, on a fairly regular basis.

The Gubenator takes the cowards way out.


California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger ponders his next policy move.

It strikes me that there has been very little coverage of how the, we now learn, spineless Gubenator twice vetoed bills that would legalize same-sex marriage. Now he supports the California Supreme Court imperial action and will not support the Limit on Marriage amendment to California's State Constitution. He now stands against the more than 61% of voters who passed Proposition 22 in 2000.

What happened? Why the switch? Why is Mr. Schwarzenegger hiding behind the imperial tyrants' black robes when twice he recognized the will of people and would not let the California's radical Left redefine marriage?

Californians voted for a Republican that would stand up to the radical Left-wing Democrats in Sacramento State House. Now it is clear that there is just another Democrat sitting in the Governor's Mansion.

Hints of things to come should Senator McCain win the White House?

California Court Bans Voters



I don't think I can do any better than James M. Kushner on the latest insanity from California:
"Let's just close down our legislatures, burn or toss our voting booths, and swear fealty to the justices of the courts."
At least my new homestate of Washington passed so-called domestic union laws, through the legislative process. I don't like it, but at least it was done honestly.

How much more of this nonsense will folks stomach before the conclusion is reached that now may be the time to take the following words to heart:
"... whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government ..."
