Heroes, Intelligent Design and the Super Soldier

I'll admit it, I'm kind of stuck on Heroes. But that may be changing after the latest episode, wherein Intelligent Design and Super Soldiers are corporate tools, seemingly being set up to take over the world, and the Lord's Prayer's is given an ominous shading.

There is no way I could summarize the story so far, so as Indigo Montoya famously said, "Let me sum up" some events in the latest episode. The bad guys have a formula they plan on using to turn everyone in the world into "heroes", where everyone has "powers" (I wonder how much of this is being fed by Syndrome's line, "When everyone's super ... no one will be."). As two characters walk down a corridor, one says to the other, "Think of it as 'Intelligent Design'."

Later on we learn that the first guinea pigs for the formula will be a squad of Marines. And the first one of those is a white Southerner who doesn't seem to have much on the ball (and who may have some anger issues).

So we have Intelligent Design and the United States Marines as tools of the Pinehearst corporation, which is run by the evil Patrelli patriarch. <sarcasm>My how clever [insert rolling eyes here] </sarcasm>.

Here is something that I'm sure never entered Heroe's writing room collective mind: "Think of it as Darwinian Evolution on steriods." and let the test subjects be a college fraternity. Think there might be some guys with issues at Sigma Phi Delta or Delta Tau Delta? Hmmmm ...

So what's the over-under on how long before this Intelligently Designed Super Soldier becomes a one man army intent on destroying anyone who gets in his way?

I guess we all have to wait until next week. 'Till then, keep your eyes out for dudes with parent issues creating pop-top skulls.

And don't even get me started on this episode's title: "Our Father" - it may be completely innocuous, given that there was probably few in the writing room who actually knew how the Lord's Prayer begins. On the other hand ... if just one of them did and did not say anything, or, worse, thought it was funny, then I hope there is a special place in H - E - Double Hockey Sticks for that person.
