Imagine walking into your office each day and having your co-workers start up a chant making your personal political beliefs a source of mockery and ridicule. That is
what greeted Ron Silver when he walked onto the set of the now defunct West Wing.
"Often when I walked onto the set of the West Wing some of my colleagues would greet me with a chanting of “Ron, Ron, the neo-con.” It was all done in fun but it had an edge."
Now I've worked with plenty of folks, in a variety of businesses, in all parts of the country. Never once was my politics
the thing that defined me.
According to
Matthew Modine Liberals are
"BROADMINDED. Not limited to or by established, traditional,
orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from
bigotry. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress
& tolerant of the ideas of others."
Mocking someone for holding a political viewpoint that differs from you is not what I would desribe as "broadminded", "free from bigotry", "open ... & tolerant of ideas of others." But then I'm not a Liberal.
