California and
Washington laws go into force in 2008 making it a crime to drive and use a non-hands free cell phone.
Now that the Nanny State has stuck it's camel's nose into our privately owned cars, trucks and SUVs, legislators are looking at what else can be banned while driving. Potential laws are being evaluated by Safest, Safer, etc. Here's what they've come up with so far:
SafestPrivate ownership of vehicles to be
forbidden. Anyone caught talking to a bus driver or other public transportation
operator will be banned from all public transportation for life. Sneaker subsidies
shall be made available for low income pedestrians. (In other news, Skechers &
Nike stock value hit an all time high.)
SaferNo drinking, no eating, no applying make
up, no shaving, no talking to passengers, no fiddling with the radio, CD or MP3
player, no steering with your knees and definitely no reading. All sources of
disctraction are forbidden. Violaters will have all driving privileges revoked
for life. The government has determined that the safest form of private
transportation, if one
must drive,
should go no faster than 40 miles per hour.
In response
automakers shall go back to the good old days when a stylish SUV looked
something like
this.
SafeNanny state legislatures have resolved
that anything less than ‘Safer’ isn’t safe at all.
